Can Tasers Kill People? Do You Really Care?

Please don't let the title set you off; If you carry a Taser, or are considering purchasing one, it is obvious that you do care. Most people cringe at the thought of hurting another person, let alone killing one. The point you need to understand is that your ability to protect yourself or your family in a life-threatening situation is the most important thing.

So can Tasers kill people? Since its invention, the Taser has been linked to roughly 70 deaths by my research. In most of these instances, drugs were also involved, and they, or the combination, were deemed the real issue. In some, improper or unnecessary use may have been the culprit. And in one instance where the victim did not die, one of the barbs went into his brain.

By my wager, if someone were shot point-blank in the eye with two barbs travelling at 180 feet/second, it is possible he could die. But let us try to take a look at what the product really provides: For people who want to be safe, you can carry a Taser that fits in your hand and in your purse and know that if you're confronted with a life-threatening situation, you can end it without lethality.

Can Tasers kill people? I would say yes, it is possible on the magnitude of something like 1 in a million actual street altercations. But I would also choose to focus on the fact that it is a drastic improvement in non-lethality and stopping power over guns, knives, and other self defense weapons. Also consider that the Taser is still considered by many experts to be a non-lethal weapons with more stopping power than many lethal ones.

Most people dont want to hurt another human being, but the slightest of risk with a Taser is far outweighed by its comforting power. If you are ever confronted by an assailant, aim, shoot, set it on the ground, and run to safety as fast as you can. Your safety is the most important thing.
